Cinema In School

The Cinema in School initiative uses world cinema, Indian documentary  and  animation as well as videos on social issues to form discussion spaces about the importance of peaceful co-existence.

This approach focuses on a sustained engagement with young people and to choose films to respond to the specific issues that arise during everyday schooling.

A passion for education through cinema
Our goal is to encourage a wider adoption of the curriculum as a teaching aid in schools across North India where individual teachers might have an interest in democratic education. The experience of cinema in school shows that such a section of teachers exists.

Working In The Remote Areas - In the past few years, the Cinema in School initiative has worked in various schools of Bihar, Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, Rajasthan and Delhi – many of them situated in remote locations and lacking infrastructure and content for film screenings

Independent Cinema - Since the conception, it has been a completely independent and uncompromising cinema movement in terms of values and the content being shown

Cinema Curriculum Extending the activities of ‘cinema in school’, we are creating a cinema curriculum for democratic education that is suitable for Indian young people who come from lower or middle income schools and informal learning centres. Training workshops are being conducted to streamline effective implementation of the curriculum in selected localities in Uttarakhand, Rajasthan and Delhi-NCR
